Leaders are teachers
The effective leader is the master teacher.
Teachers change the way we see the world, and they often change the way we understand ourselves.
Researchers at Harvard and Columbia universities, recently documented empirical evidence that points out the economic difference a great teacher can make in the career of an individual.
Every great leader is a great teacher, and the greatest leaders seize every opportunity, to teach well.
Ideas do drive the world, and beliefs determine people’s actions.
The leader who wants a long term effect, with a determinative lasting effect, has to be the lead teacher, changing minds, in order to transform the organisation.
Leaders are Thinkers
Leadership begins, when you learn to think like a leader, and leadership is not achieved, until followers learn to think as well.
Leadership is an intellectual activity, and whilst it is important to point out that activity is the essence of leadership, activity is the result of thinking, and where the eventual seeds of success or failure are sown.
It fact, be sure, the quality of your actions, will not exceed the quality of your thinking, and careful attention to thinking, is what sets leaders apart.
Leadership and the Passion to Lead.
Passionate leaders, driven by passionate beliefs, draw passionate followers!
Leaders are called to develop many qualities, but the one thing that drives them right to the front,
is ….PASSION.
Without passion nothing important happens.
Soren Kierkegaard the philosopher, who gave rise to what became known as existentialism, or the importance of the individual’s experience, contrasts passion with mere ”flashes of enthusiasm”.
Leaders must have a Worldview
The leader must shape the worldview of followers, and it is therefore, one of the most intellectual challenges a leader will face.
Leadership would not be as complex as it is, if we were less complex as human beings, but complex we are.
People do not think issue by issue in detail, instead, we operate out of what is called a vision, or our worldview.
Visions are the silent shapers of our thoughts.
Leadership tells a story
Leadership is a Real Story.
The leader draws followers into a story that frames and affects all of life.
Have you ever noticed that the most important truth in all of life, come alive through well told stories, and faithful leadership, cannot be separated from the power of a well stewarded story.
The most successful leaders, know how to lead out of the power of the narrative, and frame the identity of the mission, always including their own story, into the main body of the larger story.
Unlike animals, we are story tellers, lovers of stories, and the keepers of stories for posterity.
